Homepage Hero Header

(Slider, Image Fade, Static Image)

Your Club’s ‘Homepage Header’ Section is a big area featured at the top of a page. This is what provides your users first impression of your site. This article will go over how to create your ‘Homepage Header’ (Hero Section) and fully design it. Feel free to jump to the section that you want to learn more about:

Locate your ‘Homepage Header’ Section

  1. From the ‘Pages‘ menu on the left-hand side of the Dashboard, select the ‘All Pages‘ option to bring up the ‘Pages’ screen.
  2. Hover over your Homepage title to bring up the action menu and click on Edit.
  3. Locate the ‘Homepage Header‘ and click the arrow to expand.

‘Hero Display Options’ is only available for Advanced Website Package. To learn more about the different packages we offer, CLICK HERE


Hero Display Options
What you show on your Hero Header doesn’t just catch the eyes of the viewers quickly but also keeps them glued to the site for a long time. They help in showcasing your most important and relevant content to your audience. Here are the options we provide:

Slider: Allows up to 10 images or vidoes with texts to slide across your club website header section.

Image Fade*: Allows up to 3 images with text to fade in and out of your club website header section.

Video Background*: Allows you to add a video background. This is good for looping videos or slow montages.

Static Image*: A static image is good if you have a custom image you want to stay put on your club’s website header section

*Only available if you have one of our Advanced Website Packages

How to Add/Remove/Duplicate your a slide from your Homepage Slider
Each slide in the slider can have its own background image or video, logo and headings. You can add up to 10 slides on your homepage header.

  1. Within the Homepage Edit Screen, click on the arrow to expand ‘Homepage Header‘ 
  2. Locate the ‘Hero Display Option’ and select Slider from the drop down
  3. To add a new slide locate the Add Slide at the bottom*.
    • To Remove or Duplicate a slide, hover over the row until you see the icons    
  4. Select Update/Publish under the ‘Publish’ metabox in the right column

How to Edit Individual Slides

Within the ‘Homepage Header’ select the slide you want to edit and click the arrow to expand to bring up all custom fields you can edit/modify. Below we will go over what each field does.

Don’t forget to always select Update/Publish under the ‘Publish’ metabox in the right column if you do any edits.

Slider - Slide Info

Background Choice*
Each individual slide can have its own background image or video.

Background Image / Background Video
Upload your media. A tint will be added to your media to make text pop

Text Alignment
You have three choices of how you want to align your text in the section; Left, Center, Right.

Main Heading
The main title you want visitors to see when viewing the slide

Paragraph
A Short description of the subject. It is recommend to keep the paragraph 2-4 lines long. 

Add Button?
Check if you want visitors to have the capability of clicking on a button on the slide. Uncheck if you do not want a button

Button Color
Select the color of the button by using the drop down. If you choose custom a ‘Custom Color’ line will appear. From there you can easily change the color by selecting the square icon and selecting a color from the pop up. By default your button’s color pulls from your Main Theme‘s Primary & Secondary colors.

  • Tip: You can change all of your primary & secondary button colors through Advanced Color Settings without changing your Main Theme Settings. (This overrides your Main Theme’s primary & secondary color)

Button URL
The website you want visitors to go to after they click on the button

Add Image
An Image or Logo you want on to display on the slide. This is not the background image of your slide.

Align Image
You have the choice to put the image or logo on the left, center or right of the slide. Please note, that all text will move according depending on which alignment you choose

Image Fade
‘Image Fade’ allows you to keep important text static (stationary) while 3 images slowly zoom in & fade out. 

  1. Within the Homepage Edit Screen, click on the arrow to expand ‘Homepage Header‘ 
  2. Locate the ‘Hero Display Option’ and select Image Fade from the drop down

Pre Heading
A short text snippet or summary that is directly above the Main Heading

Heading
The main title you want visitors to see when viewing the slide

Paragraph

Add Button?
Check if you want visitors to have the capability of clicking on a button on the slide. Uncheck if you do not want a button

Button Color
Select the color of the button by using the drop down.

Button URL

Image Fade - Background Images

You must have 3 images when using the Image Fade option. A tint will be added to your media to make text pop

Replace / Add Logo:

  1. If there is an image in one of these fields, hover over the current image and select the X to delete the photo
  2. Select Add Image or Add File
  3. Your media library will pop up. Select the image/video in your media library so a blue check mark appears in the top right corner. If you do not see your media, you can upload the media into your library by selecting the Upload files tab or Drag & Drop your image from your desktop. Once you locate the correct image, press SELECT at the bottom.
  4. You will now see your new Image/Video in the field you uploaded the media to in the ‘Homepage Hero’ Section.
  5. Select Update/Publish under the ‘Publish’ metabox in the right column

Static Image
If you want to keep things simple for your Hero Header. The Static Image is just that, an image or logo with no words.

  1. Within the Homepage Edit Screen, click on the arrow to expand ‘Homepage Header‘ 
  2. Locate the ‘Hero Display Option’ and select Static Image from the drop down
Don’t forget to always select Update/Publish under the ‘Publish’ metabox in the right column if you do any edits.

Replace/ Add Logo:

  1. If there is an image in the field, hover over the current image and select the X to remove the photo
  2. Select Add Image or Add File
  3. Your media library will pop up. Select the image/video in your media library so a blue checkmark appears in the top right corner. If you do not see your media, you can upload the media into your library by selecting the Upload files tab or Drag & Drop your image from your desktop. Once you locate the correct image, press SELECT at the bottom.
  4. You will now see your new Image/Video in the field you uploaded the media to in the ‘Homepage Hero’ Section.
  5. Select Update/Publish under the ‘Publish’ metabox in the right column

Pro Tip: Changing your Homepage Header to static image will only update on your Homepage. You can add a static Header Image on ALL pages including Homepage, News Posts, GotSport Event Pages, etc.
